Bishop Dr. J. O Baker
Bishop J.O Baker born in the Island of Jamaica. A native of Westmoreland. He is the thirteenth of fifteen children born to Minister Kernal and Roslyn Baker. Dr.Baker gave his life to the Lord in the month of October, 1973. Dr. Baker began to deliver the word of God that very year on the street sides and in the squares. He later received the right hand of fellowship in 1976 at the Mcfield New Testament Church of God, Westmorland. He was then appointed evangelist in 1976. He later on moved to Montego Bay and attended 3 waterlane Montego Bay Church of God. From there he was given many assignments and invitations to minister on the district. Dr. Baker was very active in his church and well known among the Montego Bay district and was called upon on several occasions to minister during men's fellowships, youth crusades, conventions etc. In 1978 Dr. Baker formed a prayer meeting called "Powerhouse". And out of these meetings several pastors, evangelist and missionaries were birthed. As the Lord began to expand his borders he began to lead several crusades throughout the island. Where he witnessed many miracles and people being delivered and set free by the power of God. On January 16, 1982, he married the love of his life Sharon, a registered nurse. The union produced seven beautiful children, five girls and two boys. A year later in 1983, Dr.Baker migrated to Bronx, New York. Dr. Baker is a Licensed Minister with the Church of God and was ordained Bishop with the Church of God, in Cleveland Tennessee in 1987. He and his wife now's pastors at Grace Assembly Deliverance Temple, Bronx NY. Dr. Baker is the original founder of the Caribbean Gospel Music Awards, that began in 1992 and is now known as "Love Gospel International Awards" where he has honored hundreds of ministers of the gospel and artiste throughout the world; just to name a few Otis Wright, Claudelle Clarke, Shirley Willis, Gerry Thompson, Lieutenant Stitche, The late Dr. Hopeton Lewis, Carlene Davis, and Tommy Cowan. He also founded Love Gospel Station in 2001, Bronx, New York. Dr. Baker is known to play a big part in the success of the Caribbean Gospel Music Industry, and still continues to master in that area. Dr.Baker mission is to take the Cities For Jesus and to see souls all across the world come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior.
